Room 1 - 2014

Friday 13 September 2013

Welcome to our 'Before and After' Exhibition!

Well it's finally finished, after weeks of effort Room One has finished their 'Before and After' art! Your children have worked really hard to show you an area of the Cromwell gorge before and after the Clyde Dam was built. We learned a lot about what people thought of the Dam being built and then decided to paint a before and after scene to show how the Cromwell gorge isn't as beautiful as it used to be. We worked really hard at mixing colours to recreate the scenes we saw on photographs of the gorge. Here is a slideshow of the art. You can also visit photos of the actual paintings here

We will share the children's thoughts on their efforts next week. I hope you enjoy the efforts of your kids!

  4. Thank you Emily for sharing with us the clip on The Clutha River. I remember what it was like when the Clutha River ran through the Cromwell Gorge. There was a house on an orchard in the gorge which I loved and was very sad to think that it was going to end up under water.
You certainly do live in a very beautiful part of the country and I cannot wait to visit again in the school holidays :-)

  6. I loved your dam pictures they are very detailed and you can clearly see what it looked like before and after the dam was put in. I remember driving on the old road before the dam, there were lots of orchards and the river was very rocky.
